The Vietnam conical hat is synonymous with Vietnam and has become a sort of informal Vietnamese national symbol that is recognized worldwide. It is worn by Vietnamese everywhere- on the streets of Saigon, in the fields of Sapa, on the rivers of the Mekong Delta and in the markets of Hanoi. The Vietnam conical hat many uses include shielding from the fierce sunshine and hard rain, as a basin or a bowl to contain water when one is thirsty, as a fan when they are hot, as a basket of a bunch of vegetables. Romantically, young Vietnamese couple can also veil their kisses behind this traditional conical hat during their dates.
