Saigon Shopping Opera View

This is an on-going series where I’m trying to give you as much as I can on shopping in Saigon. So do remember to check back every once in a while. I’ve already started 1 on Saigon Shopping Eden Mall which cover the immediate perimeter of Eden Mall. For this article on Saigon Shopping Opera View, it will be on the immediate perimeter on (of course) Opera View. Opera View is just diagonally across the Saigon Opera House…

Huynh Anh Hotel

Huynh Anh Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, has always been the hotel I’d book for my buddies whenever they come over to tour Vietnam. Located right in Saigon backpackers hostel area, they have very friendly staffs, a security guard based in the lobby for 24 hours a day and even security cameras on every level of the hotel. For US$25 per night at Huynh Anh Hotel, you’ll get cable TV, hot shower, a small fridge, free breakfast, WIFI, free access to the internet in the lobby and GREAT views of Saigon backpacker’s area if you can get the room with a balcony. Note that this is not the perfect hotel. If you want a flawless one, go to Sheraton or Hyatt :-) My experience with them is that sometimes the battery for the air con remote goes flat. And sometimes the hot water gets too hot, or not at all. But at only US$25 with its location and facilities, you’ll find that it’s worth every dollar…

Cycling Mekong

The reports I had heard from friends about their adventures in the Mekong Delta were largely negative. They had all been dragged on similar whistlestop tours that included little fresh air, uninspiring boat rides and a tedious visit to a candy factory. So, when the chance to see The Delta in a more original and revealing fashion arose, I was raring to go…

I get regular emails from our readers asking questions about Vietnam Visa. So I thought I should write a post hoping to help. I must state upfront that I’m not writing from experience. I’m a Singaporean and by default we get 30 days free entry into Vietnam. Still, I did a little research and these are some general information about getting a Vietnam Visa…

If you are wondering about the big deal with the Vietnamese New Year, or Tet, it is the most important and biggest holiday and festival in Vietnam. Pho Bo

Saigon best Pho Bo, or Vietnamese beef noodle soup, in my book, has got to be at 120/39 Tran Hung Dao Street, Pham Ngu Lao ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It’s hidden away in one of those alley at Saigon backpacker hostel area and not quite easy to find. But when you are with Vietnam720.com, you know you can always count on ‘How to get to’…

Got invited by ‘QT’ (a big fan of Vietnam720 and you can read about him here) to Phu My Hung for coffee. We met at this Paris Coffee which is at R1-25 Hung Phuoc 4 Street, Phu My Hung. Nice cafe by the corner of a T-junction which is good for people and traffic watching. The purpose of this post is to highlight a few points:
